Early ss 1936 chained dagger-uncleaned outside - mint blade! 0710189192 whatspp - Christiana

When I say ‘early’ I mean initial production as these were all introduced in 1936. However, this lovely dagger has all these traits. All nickel fittings throughout, which have not been cleaned in a very long time so have dark patina on all surfaces. The solid black ebony grip is virtually perfect, with one small chip to the left hand corner on the reverse. The nickel grip eagle is perfect with no chips around it. The enamel SS runes button is also perfect, just dirty on the surface. The chain and center ramp are of the highest quality and detail. Extremely crisp. The chain is a Type II with bevelled top links to the cloverleaf clip fitting. The detail on the skulls is amazing, with background blackening and the noses on the skulls are ‘split’. The reverse link has a lightly stamped ‘Kulturzeichen’ SS runes. I’ve seen this a few times on similar chains, and it was obviously the way that they did this. No heavy stamping! All screws are present and in good shape. This is a black painted scabbard, so there is only ONE screw holding the ramp to the body. At some time, looks to be a while ago, the scabbard has been repainted in deep gloss black, but beautifully done and it already is showing some age near the edges of the fittings etc. Looks excellent!! The blade is stunning with virtually stone mint finish. All the crossgrain polish on both sides, and just light ‘in & out’ marks. The motto has all of the dark grey/black finish to the lettering. Quite a stunning looking SS chained dagger indeed!
